Privacy Policy

Introduction
The Irish Institute of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy is committed to keeping your personal information private. We understand that your privacy and the security of your information is very important to you.

This privacy policy only applies to the website www.iipp.ie and communications between you and us as a business.

Please note that this privacy policy does not apply to any other website which you may access from www.iipp.ie and the privacy policies of these third-party websites should be referred to.

Whenever we process your information, we will do so in compliance with this Privacy Policy. We are committed to adhering to applicable laws and providing clear explanations of how and why we use your information, ensuring you can trust that your privacy is safeguarded.

Who are we?
When we use the terms ‘we’ or ‘our’, we refer to The Irish Institute of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. The Irish Institute of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy delivers professional and empathetic psychotherapy services across Ireland.

How we collect your data and what data is collected
When you visit www.iipp.ie, get in contact with the business or use our services, we collect personal data. The ways we collect it can be broadly categorised into the following:

Information you provide to us directly: When you visit or use some parts of our website and/or services we might ask you to provide personal data to us. This could include but is not limited to asking you for your contact information when you fill out a contact form on the website. You are not required to provide us with personal information, however this may prevent us from providing our products and services to you.

Information we collect automatically: We collect some information about you automatically when you visit our websites or use our services, like your IP address and device type. We also collect anonymous analytical information about the pages you visit on our website, how you interact with our website, and where you were referred from to reach our website. This allows us to better understand how our website is performing and allows us to improve our website in the future. Some of this information is collected using cookies. If you want to find out more about the types of cookies we use, why, and how you can control them, please read our Cookie Policy below.

Where we collect personal data, we only process it:

  • to perform a contract with you;
  • where we have legitimate interests to process the personal data and they not overridden by your rights;
  • to fulfil a legal obligation;
  • where we have your consent.

How we use your data
We use your personal data to provide you with information and services you have requested from us and to manage our relationship with you. We also use your personal data for other purposes which may include the following:

  • providing you with information we are required to send to you.
  • operational communications, like changes to our website and services, billing, project management, or data protection issues.
  • marketing communications in accordance with your marketing preference asking you for feedback.
  • to support you, which may include assisting with the resolution of technical support issues or other issues relating to the services we provide, whether by email, phone or otherwise.
  • to market to you, where in addition to sending your marketing communications, we may also use your personal data to display targeted advertising to you online - through our own website or through third party websites and their platforms.

How we can share your data
There will be times when we need to share your personaldata with third parties. We will only disclose your personal data to:

  • regulators, law enforcement bodies, government agencies, courts or other third parties where we think it is necessary to comply with applicable laws or regulations, or to exercise, establish or defend our legal rights. Where possible and appropriate, we will notify you of this type of disclosure.
  • other people where we have your consent.

We do not distribute, share or sell your personal data with any other services or third parties for their own use, and we do not share your information with third parties without your prior knowledge and consent.

How do we protect your data
Security is a priority for us when it comes to your personal data. We are committed to protecting your personal data and have appropriate technical and organisational measures in place to make sure that happens. Information shared between your browser and our site is encrypted and secured using Secure Socket Layer (SSL/HTTPS) technologies, which creates a secure and encrypted medium of data transfer between your browser and our servers and adds a layer of security to prevent malicious attackers obtaining your personal data. We also employ standard operating procedures and internal policies to ensure that your data remains secure, and continually monitor and improve the security of all hosting and storage infrastructure we use to store data.

Retention
The length of time we keep your personal data depends on what it is and whether we have an ongoing business need to retain it. For clients, we will retain your personal data for as long as we have a relationship with you and for a period of time afterwards where we have an ongoing business need to retain it (i.e. to comply with applicable legal, taxor accounting requirements). Following that period, we will make sure it is deleted or anonymised.

Personal contact details submitted to The Irish Institute of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy by website users are stored for 36 months before being deleted. This data is kept in a secure environment and available only to those who need to access it. The retention period of an individual's personal data is reset each time there is communication with the individual (thus setting the expiration date to the last communication date plus retention period).

User-level and event-level data stored by Google Analytics is automatically deleted from Analytics’ servers after 26 months. The retention period of the user identifier is reset with each new event from that user (thus setting the expiration date to the last event plus retention period).

Your rights
As it is your personal data that we may hold, you have a number of rights over this data including:

  • The right to be informed - you have the right to be informed about the collection and use of your personal data.
  • The right of access - you have the right to ascertain what type of personal data The Irish Institute of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy holds about you and to receive a copy of this personal data.

If you validly exercise this right, we will store your personal data and will not carry out any other processing until the issue is resolved.
  • The right to data portability - you may request us to provide you with certain personal data which you have given us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and you may request us to transmit your personal data directly to another data controller where this is technically feasible.
  • The right to object - where we rely on our legitimate interests to process your personal data, you have a right to object to this use. We will cease from processing your personal information unless we can demonstrate an overriding legitimate interest in its continued processing.
  • The right to complain - you have the right to lodge a complaint regarding the processing of your personal data to the Data Protection Commission.
  • Rights in relation to automated decision making, including profiling - you have the right to not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing. Processing is “automated” where it is carried out without human intervention and where it produces legal effects or significantly affects you.

You can exercise these rights at any time by sending an email to iipptraining@outlook.ie.

When it comes to marketing communications, you can ask us not to send you these at any time by simply following the unsubscribe instructions contained in the marketing communication, or send your request to iipptraining@outlook.ie.
